HAPPY NEW YEAR
by Mary C. Macher

‘Way back in December when New Year’s Day was getting closer, I could not commit to any New Year’s resolutions. I was still reeling from the holiday frenzy: shopping, writing greeting cards, wrapping gifts, and traveling to visit relatives. I did not want to think of something else to do; I wanted to think of sleeping late. Now with that particular stress far behind me, I am ready to make a commitment.
The idea of a resolution in the warmer weather is against tradition, I know, but it’s not the time of year that counts but more the positive attitude—the attitude of self-improvement. Whether it starts on January 1st or the 4th of July, a year is still twelve months. Twelve months later, another year has gone by and twelve months of working at something positive feels better than a year of doing nothing.
If you are like the many who made resolutions on December 31 and have already broken them, or like me, did not make any at all, be kind and help yourself to a second chance. Why not pick a date to declare your own personal New Year’s Day and let’s have a happy new year!

Animated butterfly by Sevenoaks Art. They have really beautiful animated art that does not cost anything but they do ask that they be acknowledged for the art.
